College Sports Gambling Scandals
This Wall Street Journal article discusses how the explosion of legal sports gambling in the U.S. is intersecting with college sports in complicated and unexpected ways. I earlier addressed the scandal relating to Alabama's baseball coach. The situation has drawn the attention of Federal and State agencies and the consequences show that it isn't enough for colleges and regulators to monitor the gambling activity of athletes and coaches. They should be tracking school employees, family members, and individuals with a proclivity for gambling. I truly believe that without additional controls we will continue to see more issues in the intermingling world of gambling and college sports.
